USS Abraham Lincoln’s (CVN72) newest fitness instructor, Joey Metz, who prefers to be called, “Fit Boss” came aboard Lincoln in order to provide proper health and fitness training, morale for the crew and to continue to keep the crew mission-ready during its upcoming deployment. Born in Yokosuka, Japan, Metz grew up in a military household. With her father being in the Navy, Metz moved from Japan to San Pedro, Calif., when she was about five years old to Ridgecrest, Calif., to China Lake Naval Air Base, Calif. Read more »

Emerald City Athletic Club celebrates National Dance Day

Join Emerald City Athletic Club in celebrating NATIONAL DANCE DAY on Saturday July 31 from 1-2:30pm. Emerald City Athletic Club is joining the Dizzy Feet Foundation and So You Think You Can Dance to support dance education and physical fitness. It’s hard to work out at a gym and for some of us it can be down right scary.  Over 95% of people who sign up for gym memberships quit within the first two weeks.  By no means is this a story that will make you feel bad for not exercising.  I like you my readers just as you are.  I was never really fit. I was the kid in high school that got hit in the head with the soccer ball because I didn’t know how to play.
