Animal Shelter seeking pet food donations
denisegl | September 16, 2010 | 12:00 am

The Everett Animal Shelter invites you to participate in a pet food drive to help care for the stray and lost pets being cared for at the shelter. Community members are very generous in their donations of pet food for the animals at the shelter, and the supply is getting very low. The Everett Animal Shelter’s mission is to return lost animals to owners, provide shelter and care to lost or unwanted animals and find new homes for adoptable pets.  Shelter workers and volunteers care for about 9,000 animals each year. Community members interested in donating dog or cat food can drop off un-opened food at the shelter at: 333 Smith Island Rd, Everett, WA 98201. Read more »

Come celebrate the dog days of summer at Mutt Strut
denisegl | August 20, 2010 | 4:47 pm

Every dog drools over, desires and dreams for a day at Mutt Strut, an annual event that celebrates our pooches.  Give your dog a chance to make those dreams come true as they show off their cheery disposition, athleticism and delightful fashions at the 9th annual Mutt Strut sponsored by Everett Parks and Recreation and Everett Animal Shelter. This year’s dream-studded event will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28 at Langus Riverfront Park, 400 Smith Island Rd. near the Everett Animal Shelter. Let your dog prance on the ¾ mile community dog walk and stop by the pet-friendly information booths. Then get ready to let your dogs’ dreams soar as they show off their talents in these competitive events: racing, catching, jumping, best vocals, best dressed, musical sit and most tricks in one minute. Free microchips will be available for dogs who reside in Everett or unincorporated Snohomish County.  Microchips allow easy identification and reunion should your pet become lost. Read more »
