Randy “The Natural” Couture, the Everett-born UFC hall of famer has been enduring verbal taunts lately from his upcoming opponent, James “Lights Out” Toney, as they prepare for UFC 118 in Boston this Saturday August 28. Toney, 42, the former three-weight world boxing champion declared “I’m coming for you princess!” in a commercial for the event. Things got uglier when Toney put a Couture action figure in a dress last month at UFC 116.

The City of Everett Cultural Arts Department kicks off its 2010 free outdoor movie series, Cinema under the Stars, on Friday July 23 with the animated hit Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Bring blankets or chairs to the Camp Patterson Field at Thornton Sullivan Park at Silver Lake, 11405 Silver Lake Rd., to take part in this Everett summer tradition. When UFC fighting hall of famer and former Alderwood Middle School student, Randy Couture finally retires from mixed martial arts (MMA) competition, he’ll have an extensive acting resume to advance a career in Hollywood. Due for an August 13 release, The Expendables, written and directed by Sylvester Stallone will be Couture’s ninth film appearance. Everett Public Library presents 2nd Saturday movie afternoon film series. The movie entertains all ages in the library’s main auditorium from 2-4pm on Saturday, March 12. “Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs” is based on the children’s book of the same name. This animated adventure follows a scientist who tries to solve world hunger only to see things go awry as food falls from the sky in abundance. The Absolutely True Film Series includes movies that challenge the usual Hollywood treatment of Native Americans. The series is part of the year-long conversation about the book “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian,” by Sherman Alexie.
