In the wake of the USAF Shakespearean comedy of errors earlier this month of misaddressing envelopes to rival bidders in the KC-X tanker smackdown, the New York Times reported today that the European Aeronautics Defense and Space Company (EADS), had opened a computer file containing some of the data but that its rival, Boeing, had not.

There was a time, in the now-distant past, when airplane travel was glamorous. Now, as this airplane pillow fight video shows, air travel ranks near a school bus trip. Youtube user Imatlin posted this airplane pillow fight video, saying it occurred on CO 1905 en route between Phoenix, AZ and Everett, WA.

The airplane pillow fight is not just an example of passengers having some fun in confined quarters– indeed, the airplane pillow fight reflects the plight of everyone who flies in coach: a healthy disdain for those who travel first class.

Boeing news–The good news–Boeing receives three satellite contract

Boeing [NYSE: BA] today announced that it has received a contract from Inmarsat to build three Ka-band satellites to add to Inmarsat’s current mobile satellite services fleet. Financial details were not disclosed.The fixed-price contract, with options, calls for three 702HP commercial spacecraft with 89 Ka-band beams that will operate in geosynchronous orbit with flexible global coverage. The new satellite series, called Inmarsat-5, draws on Boeing’s four decades of experience gained from the production of more than 175 commercial communications satellites and its extensive expertise in Ka-band satellite communications systems. Washington Aerospace Training and Research Center Opening

A grand opening for the Washington Aerospace Training and Research Center, at Paine Field will be 10 a.m.-noon, Thurs., June 3, 3008 100th SW, in Everett. Classes will begin in the center the following Monday.

“The training center will provide flexible and nimble training opportunities in manufacturing, avionics, and composites that meet the fast paced needs of the aerospace industry,” said center director of operations Larry Cluphf. Read more »
