The public is invited to a free showing of “Unbeaten,” an international award-winning and awe-inspiring feature length documentary that chronicles 31 wheelchair racers as they take on the most difficult road race in the world. The free event includes the showing of the documentary as well as a live performance by Ricky John and Friends starting at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5 at the Everett Civic Auditorium, 2415 Colby Ave. in downtown Everett. The showing is sponsored by the Everett School District and the City of Everett. Cascade High School graduate Gregory Strom, Producer of “Unbeaten”, will be in Everett to present the movie. Strom currently resides in Venice, Calif.   Also, Oz Sanchez, 2008 Beijing Paralympic Gold Medalist who
stars in the movie, will be at the event The film is hosted by Academy Award nominee Dan Aykroydand features music by Clint Black. Black’s song, “A Better Life” was short-listed for this year’s 2011 Oscars in the Best Song category, a prestigious honor for the low-budget project. Sadler’s Alaska Challenge spans 267 miles from Anchorage to Fairbanks through Denali National Park. This race is divided into six days, with racers enduring double-marathons each day, starting at sea level and climbing more than 10,000 vertical feet during the spectacular test of endurance.

Prior to the showing, Strom will award several “Unbeaten Medals” to
localCommunity members who embody the “Unbeaten Spirit” by living
inspirational lives in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. There
have been 20 Unbeaten Medals

Awarded to date to recipients around the world. The evening will also
feature alive performance of the original song “Do You Dream” written by local
artist RickHaugen and performed by Ricky John and Friends.
