The Historic Everett Theatre will be filled with the uniquely American sounds of country, folk and bluegrass music when the monthly Hometown Hootenanny series debuts November 20 at 7:30 p.m.
Honoring the roots of American music, the Hometown Hootenanny features local professional and amateur musicians, vocalists and novelty acts in a high-energy format that’s entertaining for all ages. The six-piece Hometown Band forms the backbone of each show, with special guests and showcase artists providing variety and diversity for each performance.
The November 20 show, titled An American Sampler, features guest artists The Dreyer Brothers, a popular local band that specializes in classic country tunes, western swing and gospel. The tight 3-part harmonies provided by brothers Stacey, Doug and Randy Dreyer are supported by guitarist Buck Hammock and Marty Dahlgren on fiddle.
Sharing the bill with the Dreyer Brothers are special guests Northern Departure, an exciting group of four young men who are accomplished bluegrass musicians. Derek Gray, Austin McGregor, Nick Dumas and Chris Luquette are in demand throughout the region, playing at festivals, jamborees and sold-out concerts.
Other well-known local musicians who will take the stage November 20 are Lee Hammond, a 12-string guitar genius, and harmonica player Jim McLaughlin.
One of the exciting features of the Hometown Hootenanny series is the ability to showcase talented amateur singers and musicians. After holding auditions in October, Mike McFadden, Suzanne Soule and Scott Johnson were invited to be part of the first show.
Tickets for Hometown Hootenanny are priced at $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, students and military personnel, and $5 for kids 12 and under.
