Today was a nice day in Everett.

First off it’s a typical northwest winter, which means a lot of rain. I spent a year living in Vancouver when I was younger, so I’m pretty used to it.

For a lot of people when they think of this area in the States they immediately think of Seattle. That’s deservingly so, because it’s a beautiful city with plenty to see and lots to do. It’s a place I’d love to see in the summer time, because I’m a huge baseball fan and have heard a Mariners game is a great experience.

However, if you ever make your way out here, I recommend staying in Everett. The hotel we’re staying at is great… nice beds, friendly staff, it’s close to the rink, and easy to get on the freeway to head into Seattle if you want. Read more »

At the Saturday night hockey game, the Silvertips were shut out 4 – 0 by the rival Seattle Thunderbirds, including a goal where Silvertips goalie Kent Simpson accidently slid the puck into the net that he was defending. This game definitely had gone to the dogs.

Canine Companion for Independence (CCI) and Puppy Power 4H promoted their assistance dog training programs at a display table on the main concourse at Comcast Arena at the Silvertips game on Saturday night. CCI is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs. Read more »

Lincoln says bring in canned goods and non-perishable food items. No fresh veggies, please.

The Everett Silvertips are calling on the generosity of Silvertip Country to replenish a depleted supply of food at the Volunteers of America Food Bank by bringing non-perishable food items to this Saturday’s game against the Seattle Thunderbirds.

Due to a 14% increase of new food bank users, it was reported on the Veterans of America’s Western Washington website (www.voaww.org) earlier this week that less than a week’s supply of food remains. “The fact is our shelves are bare. We need help, especially with the holidays coming,” explained Christin Froderberg, Director of Food Bank Services. Read more »
